NATIONAL PRESIDENT VISITS MISSISSIPPI

National President Jan Pulvermaker-Ryan arrived in Jackson on December 19 for her official visit.  While here, she visited the
G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Hospital in Jackson and Collins Veterans Home in Collins before traveling to the Gulf Coast,
accompanied by the Department President Madeline Vuncannon and Department Secretary/1st Vice President Nancy
Sanders.  The Distinguished Guest Committee of PDPs Glenda Wheelis, Kathy Dungan, and Shirley Turner also traveled with
the National President.

On Dec. 21, the group began the day by visiting the Biloxi VA Hospital and meeting with staff and veterans of the facility.  The
group then attended a luncheon hosted by Unit 139 in Bay St. Louis.  President Pulvermacher-Ryan gave an inspiring address
to the Legion family gathered in her honor.  Unit 139 is to be commended for an enjoyable luncheon, led by Unit President Lou
Wilkerson.  The group toured the area to view the recovery efforts of the residents of the area before traveling back to Jackson.

That evening, Unit 112 hosted a dinner for the President during their annual Christmas Party.  A large audience of Legion
family was present and again, the President spoke to the audience before meeting with individuals and taking photos.

On Dec. 22, the group traveled to Kosciusko to visit the nursing home for veterans.  The National President left Mississippi that
evening.
